Walking in Godliness: A Call to Perseverance and Devotion

Today is the last Sunday of the month. We thank God for taking us through this month and never leaving our sides. The theme for this month was Godliness, and again, Godliness is following the laws of the Lord and obeying his commands. This Sunday’s preacher was Lady Reverend Lydia Ampah finishing up this month’s series.

Lady Reverend starts the message asking the congregation if we are “living a Godly life”. A Godly life means following the commandments of God and walking in his ways. Mrs. Ampah explains the difficulties we may experience while trying to walk with the Lord. It is often hard to move with ease because we carry so much luggage, it slows us down. These luggages carry all worldly qualities, sins, and burdens of life. We must drop the weights so we are able to move fast in the spirit of God. Reverend reminds us the Lord isn’t looking for perfection and instead he’s looking for perseverance. He’s looking for someone who will fall, get up and try again. The race does not go to swift.

Furthermore, Lady Reverend reminds us the Lord will never despise a broken and contrite spirit. The Lord wants someone who will be able to accept reproach for his honor. Like Daniel who was threatened with the mouths of lions. He stood strong and was apathetic to the people fighting against him and still worshiped his Maker. Like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who were told they were going to die in a burning furnace turned 7 times up. They still never bowed down to any object or idol. We must reject all idols because the Lord will supply all our needs. The Lord will always make provisions for you. James 4:8 says  ”Draw near to me and I will draw near to you”. Every time we sin we widen the gap between us and the Lord; damaging our relationship. But when we follow his commandments, we come closer to the Lord. We must meditate on God’s word in order to be closer to him. We must reflect on how Godly we are and improve on ourselves each day. We must go back to the love of the Lord that caused us to find our salvation. We cannot live in this life without prayer. It is the prayer of the Lord that sustains us. We must pray for the grace to be completely devoted to the Lord. Godliness is something we can only accomplish with God’s grace, mercy, and anointing.

Go back and review all the summaries of this month’s preachings and meditate on them. Godliness is the first step in drawing closer to God. We must continue to try our best to follow God’s commands. Have a blessed week all.

and put on the new self [the regenerated and renewed nature], created in God’s image, [godlike] in the righteousness and holiness of the truth [living in a way that expresses to God your gratitude for your salvation].
    Ephe 4:24

Godliness must be in word and in deed.

    Many blessings LRLydia.
