Listening to God

The word listen comes from Hebrew word shamah- give undivided attention and obey

You can hear and choose to not obey. By definition that is not listening.

Do not merely listen to the word
Listening involves action- The question we must ask ourselves is do we obey the word of God
This means the spirit is always speaking but are you listening?

Numbers 22:19

Balaam was a sorcerer and the plan was for him to join with the God of Israel and curse the Israelites

God will not curse his own people

We are blessed so we cannot be cursed

Sometimes our desires, intentions, and expectations influence what we hear

Give and you will get 1 million
One Pastor was receiving it
His expectations influenced what he heard

Through the first hallway the donkey squeezed and balaams leg was crushed

Missing 1

Then the next hallway was so narrow so the donkey knelt down

And the donkeys mouth was opened and Ballams eyes were opened to the Angel of the Lord

Balaam admitted he had sinned and asked the angel of the Lord if he should turn back

He was told to follow Balaks officials but say only what he is told

We tend to twist what we hear to fit into our mold of expectations

Pray for others use daily routines check on other
If you Obey God then you are listening and if not he will use another vessel

If you are rebellious, the spirit withdraws

Listening God helps us to obey God and our obedience is rewarded. Shadrach Mescach and Abednego the Lord delivered them from the fiery furnace and the Lord promoted them.
