Favour and Grace

Favour is God’s acceptance, God’s will and preferential treatment for children.

Unmerited favour is grace. By believing in Christ we receive the grace of salvation

God gives favour, it is a divine blessing. Remember God shows mercy to whom He wants to show mercy to. He chooses who he favours. Our life can cause God to favor us dependent on our actions. We cannot live without favor as children of God.

These are instances in the Bible when God showed favor to His children.

Esther was favored for being selected as a queen. She was not the only beautiful lady but was favored by the Lord.(Esther 2:15)

In Genesis 6:8, Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord for He was righteous.

You never know who is watching your life, by virtue of how you live, you might be picked to be blessed (Ruth 2:10-13)

When others are questioned, What will they report about you? Are you being obedient to the will of God?Are you a reflection of God?If your superiors are looking for someone to promote or reward, will you be the one?

Treat people well, for you never know who may be your ladder to victory.

God is watching you;people are watching you.

God doesn’t favour anyone. In the birth of Jesus, God didn’t choose anyone to give birth to His Son. God had prerequisites for the birth of his Son( Isaiah 7:14). Mary was favored by the Lord. There were many women even from David’s generation but yet still Mary was chosen(Luke 1:28)

HOW DO WE ATTRACT GOD’S FAVOR

  1. You have to be a friend of God. Are you doing His bidding? Is God calling you His Friend?
  2. Thrive for Obedience in difficult situations. e.g Joseph obeyed amidst trials in Potiphar’s house.
  3. Seek Wisdom for your daily walk through life.

In the reign of King Solomon, he sought after wisdom and all other things was added to him.. He decided to serve God’s people and not himself.

HOW TO ATTRACT FAVOR FROM BOTH GOD AND MEN.

1.Honor

In Romans 13:1, It illustrates that people should give honor to whom honor is due. Jesus was unable to do anything in His hometown for their familiarity with Him.They didn’t submit His authority.

2.Relationships. Our relationships with people must be  purpose driven, not for deceit or just benefits. However relationships or friendships that will degrade your life or have no positive value on your life must be terminated. An iron sharpens iron. You can’t have a friend who would not offer you anything.

2. Advantageous connections. Build good relationships with prominent people to support you in your life.Obtain grace from God to establish those connections. For God uses human beings so those connections will help you be blessed.

3. Strategically position yourself to be blessed. set yourself to the standard or above it so you can be selected to be blessed. e.g. Diligent execution of your job and volunteering for other tasks.Opportunity comes but once, you have to gain wisdom to use the best of that opportunity. Let the Holy Spirit guide you.You should strategically position yourself in a place to be handpicked.

3. Add Value to yourself.

Learn a trade or skill,If you have to go to school, do it.

  1. Pray

Everything by prayer, nothing without prayer.Prayer would change that situation. Pray for favor in all your dealings.e.g. Esther prayed before visiting the King. Break family chains by prayer and with favor it will be broken. God likes hardworking people. Jabez prayed for God to change his situation and he was favored( 1 Chronicles 4:10)
