Another new week by God’s grace. We thank God for the ability to see a brand new day. This Sunday we learned about circumcision. Usually this is heard in the context of a newborn baby boy having his foreskin removed. This Sunday, the word took on a different form as Lady Reverend Okyere preached.
Our main scriptures came from Jeremiah 4:4 reading we should “circumcise our hearts and set our hearts unto God”. Here circumcision doesn’t speak about the male reproductive system but instead where the Holy Spirit lives, in our hearts. Lady Reverend tells us that a pure heart is one that is set apart from sin and set unto God. Circumcising our heart means removing the worldly aspect of blood circulation but going to a spiritual level. It is important to note the heart is “the spiritual part of us where our emotions and desires dwell” Reverend Suzy says. This means that when we take off the superficial layer of our hearts, we are going to be left with what is truly inside. Within our hearts are all our desires and emotions. What do we do when all we are left with is rotten desires and deadly emotions? This is the pure human part of us. Which is why Proverbs 4:23 says “out of your heart flows the issues of life”. Every problem and issue we encounter comes from the depths of our heart so we must filter the toxins. Lady Reverend says the only way to keep out the toxins of life is to guard our hearts. We must be very careful about the kind of energy, people, and spirits we let into our lives. It’s obvious we cannot give what we do not have so if we don’t consume negative things, we can’t give them out either. Lady Reverend concludes by citing Deuteronomy 10:16 reading “circumcise the foreskin of your heart”, for it is the difference between life and death. This Sunday bright a whole new meaning to the word circumcision. Now, it means to remove what is not pure and set into God.
Special Thanks to Lady Reverend Suzy for the message and letting God use you. Until next week CEM family!
Thank you Reverend Sussie—Blessings
Thank you Reverend. This is a timely word for us in this crucial times that we think “anything goes”.
Sometimes we need such a word to wake us up from our slumber.
God bless you Lady Reverend
